Tips for Teachers

Learn how to make the most of your Storia eReading experience with these informative and creative suggestions from parents around the country.

Note-Taking

Using the notes feature, create a "What I Liked Best" note that your child can find and answer when he or she comes to the end of an eBook.

Reading Reports

Go to Reading Reports to review the words your child looked up in the dictionary, and then try to use those words in conversation at dinnertime.

Using the Highlighter

To better help your child review a title he or she has just read, agree on a word or character name and have them go through the eBook again and highlight every time it appears.

Learning with Enrichments

I let my son use the activities as opportunites to "teach" me something about the book. While he's showing me how to use the learning activity, he ends up showing me even more about what he's just read.
Gerald R., TX

eBook Wish List

The wish list is a great incentive to keep my daughter reading. Whenever she finishes an eBook, she adds a new title to her Wish List. Our rule is, I'll get her the eBook that she wants—as long as she keeps her room clean for a week.
Jocelyn M., VA

Read-Aloud Fun!

Storia Read-to-Me eBooks are perfect for long trips in the car. With engaging narrations, fun music and sound effects to listen to, kids can enjoy a reading experience that makes the miles go quickly by!

Note-Taking

Using the Note-Taking feature, create a "What I Liked Best" note at the end of an eBook that students can contribute to when they finish reading. You can then use that list to review the eBook with the entire class.

Learning with Enrichments

Save the enrichments for the end of each reading session—to help review the material just read and to "reward" students with a fun learning activity.

Organizing Bookshelves

When setting up bookshelves, give them the same category names you're already using for your classroom's print library to better integrate eBooks into the organization of your classroom.

Storia Dictionary

I follow the words my students are looking up in the dictionary, and I also have them highlight words of their choice to assemble in a class list for vocabulary study.
Tracy N., fifth grade teacher, OH

Read-Alouds in the Classroom

I use Storia Read-to-Me eBooks in our classroom's listening center. The narration is really fun and engaging, and my kids love following along as they listen.
Alexis R., second grade teacher, NC
